We started out the season by getting a tree together the Sunday after Thanksgiving. We found the perfect Fraser Fir at a local place in town. It has been thoroughly decorated with my collection of woodland (and not-so-woodland) creatures, gold poinsettias, crystal garlands, home-made glittery pinecones (from our wedding) and sparkly chocolate, silver, and gold balls. Some of my favorite new additions this year include these carved wood alpacas from Crate and Barrel and these sisal birds from West Elm. I was also able to incorporate a few special pieces from our wedding, including crystal garlands (that were draped from the pergola during our ceremony) as well as some of the pinecones (from our reception tables) that I dusted with silver glitter. We also added a special ornament which we picked up during our honeymoon. I would love to have a tradition of picking out an ornament together every year. :)
We also spruced up the house both inside and out. After an unsuccessful search for stockings, I decided to make my own. David's great Aunt Helen has traditionally hand-knitted stockings for the family members, so I thought I'd give it a shot, and I am really pleased with how they turned out.

Here is my Wizard of Oz-inspired stocking. |
Right now there are a gazillion presents under the tree, wrapped in pretty paper and dressed with ribbons and bows. We are having an early Christmas with David's family on Friday, and then we will be traveling to Texas to spend Christmas with my family. (My dad is recovering from a major surgery) so it will be nice to spend time with him, and David will finally get to meet my grandmother!
What kinds of Christmas traditions does your family have?
Luv,
the Bride
